About the Creator
Therabear was developed with love and much attention to detail over the course of many years by Dr. Julie Pelletier. Dr. Pelletier is a Clinical Child Psychologist in Indiana who has been working with children and adolescents in a variety of settings including outpatient clinic, residential treatment, inpatient, locked secure units, and most recently private practice for approximately 20 years. She has had the opportunity to work with youth of all ages, having numerous psychiatric diagnoses, and coming from a variety of backgrounds. Dr. Pelletier graduated with highest honors obtaining Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology. She is passionate not only about the children with whom she works directly, but about all youth. Additionally, she has a great desire to facilitate the understanding of the importance of mental health awareness and treatment in our communities. There is an ever-increasing need for mental health treatment, yet also many roadblocks to being able to obtain these services. While Therabear will not take the place of long-term therapy in an office setting, it can serve as a constant source of support, provide comfort, and teach calming skills to children that can be internalized with ongoing use. It is Dr. Pelletier's hope that Therabear will be used and loved by children for years as they learn to gain important skills that will assist with their mental health and well-being into adulthood.
